Birthday Month Update: Erotica Writing Class Saturday and New Books
What I've been up to and what's ahead
I turned 48 on November 10, so technically it’s still my birthday month. I’ve been busy dealing with personal issues so had a quiet birthday at home and wanted to let you know about the big things I’ve been working on. First, if you haven’t been reading my personal essay publication
I’d love if you’d check it out. We have eight months of powerful essays about all kinds of topics (a sampling: killer jobs to a surgeon’s ADHD diagnosis to auditioning for TV commercials and using a dead partner’s ashes in a tattoo), and more slated for December. If you find any of the essays insightful, I’d love if you gave them a like (heart button), commented, and/or shared them, all of which help them be seen by more readers. This Saturday, December 2, from 1-3 pm PT/4-6 pm ET, I’m teaching my Erotica Writing 101 workshop online for She Bop. It’s my last class for the near future so if you want to kickstart your erotica writing or give it to someone as a gift, now’s the time. The class recording will be available for a week to those who register so if you can’t make it live but still want to take part in it and get the handouts with writing prompts and resources, sign up!
Then on December 5, Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 9 (theme: TEMPTATION!) will be out! Pre-order from your local indie bookstore and here’s where you can find the table of contents and you can pre-order in print at Bookshop, Amazon, Bn.com, or wherever you buy books! For the ebook version, you can pre-order for Kindle, Nook, iBooks, or Kobo.
Here’s more about this hot anthology:
Give in to temptation . . .
Want to know the key to unlocking your most forbidden desires? Just ask the curious and courageous characters of Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 9! Whether they’re pursuing a fetish, showing off, or watching a sexy striptease, these leading ladies learn that sometimes simply saying yes is all they need to indulge in their wildest fantasies.
In these 19 brand new erotic stories edited by the award-winning Rachel Kramer Bussel, women travel to all corners of the earth—and sometimes beyond—to find the pleasure they seek. Whether it be in their own home, a library, a bar, the office, kink clubs, or even outer space, they offer themselves up for seduction and indulge every wild desire. Join them as they bed men and women and discover how hot it can be to rub up against the edges of their personal boundaries.
With stories by popular authors including Ruby Barrett, Jane Boon, Nicole Falls, and Karmen Lee, plus newcomers to erotic storytelling, the tales in Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 9 are too tempting to turn away from.
And, a book that’s been 25 years in the making, my erotic short story collection debut, Lap Dance Lust: A Collection of Erotic Stories! I’ve collected my favorite stories I’ve written and penned two more specifically for this collection. This sexy book will be out from Cleis Press on February 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day! Pre-order from your local indie bookstore or from Bookshop or Amazon.
When I started writing erotica as a break from the chaos of law school way back in the late 1990s, I never imagined it would lead to a career in sexy stories. I’m excited to share this book with you in a few months and if you know you’ll want to read it, pre-ordering helps signal there’s interest from readers! It will also be out in ebook on February 13, with an audiobook to follow.
