My Erotica Short Story Collection Lap Dance Lust Is Out Now!
25 years of my smut writing favorites all in one book
It’s hard to believe I’ve been writing erotica for 25 years, but I did indeed write my first erotic story, “Monica and Me,” in 1999, and now, in 2024, my debut short story collection, Lap Dance Lust, is out in print and ebook! (Audiobook coming soon.) It was a fun and funny and curious experience to comb through my archives and figure out which of the dozens of stories I’ve written over the years I wanted to include. I found some I’d almost forgotten about and some I’ll always treasure because they poured out of such a personal place or allowed me to delve into territory I hadn’t ventured into before on the page.
I wrote two new stories for the collection, “Caught in the Act” (inspired by someone telling me they once bought one of my books and got home to find there were pages torn out!) and “Standing Room Only,” and chose my personal favorites and ones that readers have told me they’ve enjoyed, as well as a range of stories across sexual orientations and genders and types of story. I truly think there’s something for everyone if you’re into sexy stories (and even though Valentine’s Day is over, it makes a great gift!).
I encourage you to buy Lap Dance Lust from your local independent bookstore or ask your local library to carry it. Here are other places to get it:

Here’s the official book description:
Get reacquainted with lust in Bussel’s latest collection. . .
This time around, award-winning erotica maven Rachel Kramer Bussel delves into her own archive of sexy tales from the past twenty-five years to bring us Lap Dance Lust: A Collection of Erotic Stories. Featuring Bussel's most popular pieces as well as brand-new ones, this salacious set of fiction offers portraits of modern sexuality that are sure to turn you on.
Dive into this book of the dirtiest deeds imaginable, and you’ll discover there’s something for everyone. Splashed across these pages are BDSM practices of all kinds, polyamorous adventures shared amongst couples, pansexual exploration and more. Characters embark on a wild adventure in "Sexathon,” while a restaurant offers an oral sex treat for those in the know in "Secret Service.” Bondage goes public in "Hands Down," a carefully planned orgy comes to fruition in "A First Time for Everything" and a woman's special fetish takes center stage in "Doing the Dishes."
There is no question that Bussel has earned her reputation as one of the biggest names in the literary world of erotica; just flip open this must-read and see for yourself!
And here’s what the wonderful erotica author Sally Bend wrote in her review:
There’s a wide range of stories here covering various fetishes and pairings, different POVs, and even different writing styles. Rachel has a voice that carries through them all – a sex-positive voice of acceptance and empowerment – but no two stories read alike. There’s a variety there, a uniqueness to each story, that really needs to be celebrated…
The opening story, Lap Dance Lust, is just wonderful, and almost guaranteed not to be what you’re expecting from the title. Doing the Dishes was a masterpiece of fetish, a story that manages to make an ordinary chore extraordinarily erotic. spoke deeply to the submissive in me, an entirely captivating story that doesn’t contain a lick of dialogue.
The End is, far and away, the most emotionally powerful story in the collection, a story quite unlike anything I expected – it gutted me and made me pause. Special Request completely turned the tables though, a delightfully hedonistic story where appearances, expectations, and roles are fluid. Better Late Than Never was a delightful surprise, a coming-out story of realization and discovery that felt genuine and exciting.

I’ll close by saying a huge THANK YOU for going on this journey with me! Getting to put out a book of my stories isn’t something I even dreamed of back in 1999 and it’s a huge honor to mark this anniversary with Lap Dance Lust in the world.
I have two erotica anthologies I’ve edited coming out later this year and in the meantime will be focusing on nonfiction, like my recent Tiny Love Story in The New York Times. I’m tinkering with a few new essays and will be sharing thoughts and ideas and book recommendations here in this newsletter, and have almost a year’s worth of deeply personal essays you can check out over at
. Right now, I’m basking in the glow of this new release.
